What If…the All-New All-Different X-Men Had Never Existed?

What If…? #23 published in 1991, written by Kurt Busiek, and penciled by Rodney Ramos. The original X-Men were never captured by Krakoa, so Professor X never recruited new members to replace them. Nightcrawler and Proudstar joined Eric the Red and Wolverine joined Alpha Flight and fought alongside the X-Men and Sunfire in Japan, against Moses Magnum. The X-Men also rescued Kitty Pryde and Dazzler and fought Arkon in Africa, where they met Storm, although none of them joined the team. After briefly encountering the Hellfire Club, the X-Men attempted to help the Shi'ar stop the Phoenix Force.
