Villain Has a Point

Time and time again a story is told with the classic hero vs. villain setup with the villain committing acts deemed evil by good, neutral, and the normally apathetic. The villain usually commits said acts for their own personal reasons, be it pride, ambition, self-righteousness, megalomania, or even love. But wait, they have an understandable—or God forbid, justifiable—reason for their actions? What if they may not be so much evil as they are anti? Here is a villain who has an understandable/justifiable reason for being what they are, or has understandable/justifiable motives, or makes accurate assessments of the world or the hero(es). In any case, this is a villain who unexpectedly has a point about something, or whose reasoning for their motives still hit too close to the truth for the hero's comfort. When this comes to light, the revelation may force the hero to question their own motives or even send them into a Heroic BSoD. With straight villains this can be even easier when they go against other villains who give them plenty of things to criticise and be right about. Due to the nature of their villainy, if they become too excessive in their methods they can easily fall under Well-Intentioned Extremist. In-Universe they can easily fall under Designated Villain.
