Takashi "Shiro" Shirogane (born on February, the 29th 1986) is a skilled former pilot of legendary reputation from the Galaxy Garrison who was taken captive by the Galra Empire during a mission to Kerberos and a recurring character in Chargeshock Thompson & the Justice Avengers. He became a famed gladiator heralded as the champion in the Empire's arena. He was experimented on and given a prosthetic arm. Shiro's sudden return to Earth a year later with claims of aliens on the attack triggers the events leading to the return of Voltron.
Appearance
Shiro is a tall, well-built Japanese young adult with fair skin, short black hair with a white bangs styled neatly with a slight upward lift, and dark eyes. He has a calm, composed expression that reflects his disciplined nature. His most distinguishing feature is his Galra prosthetic right arm, which glows faintly with purple energy and grants him enhanced strength.
As a Paladin, Shiro wears black armor accented with silver and purple tones, symbolizing his role as the leader of Voltron. Outside of combat, he typically wears a simple jacket and dark clothing, maintaining a practical and minimalistic style.
Shiro wears a gray long-sleeved turtleneck shirt under a black vest when he is not in his Paladin armor. The vest has a tall collar and is accented with yellow, white, and light gray. He wears a black, fingerless glove on his left hand that covers his sleeve's cuff; Shiro's right arm is almost entirely a white and gray Galra prosthetic to replace his lost natural arm, beginning just over his elbow and mimicking his natural arm's shape. Shiro can tuck his shirt under the prosthetic's edge.
Shiro's vest and shirt are tucked under a gray utility belt he wears over his pants with a pouch at either hip. The dark grey pants Shiro wears are padded at the knees and tuck into the cuffs of his black and gray boots.
Personality
Shiro is defined by his calm demeanor, unwavering discipline, and strong sense of responsibility. A natural leader, he inspires trust and unity among his allies. Like his cousin, Jake, despite his level headed exterior, Shiro is prone to being short-tempered and stubborn when his loved ones are in danger and can get easily angered by injustice, but instead of losing his track of his rational side Shiro is much more controlled and composed, rarely acting on impulse and serving as a mentor figure to Jake. However, he does display dry sarcasm and subtle wit, especially in tense situations.
Shiro carries emotional scars from his time in captivity, making him more introspective and protective of those he considers family. Around Keith, he takes on a mentor-like role, guiding him through inner conflict and leadership struggles.
Despite his stoic exterior, Shiro deeply values connection. His bond with his cousins gradually allows him to open up, showing warmth, empathy, and even moments of humor.
Shiro is also openly gay, with his past relationship being acknowledged early in the series through personal conversations and memories, presenting his identity as a natural part of his character.
