Kagami Tsurugi (born on November, the 20th 1997), also known as Ryuko is Dennis Rodríguez's love interest and a major recurring character in Chargeshock Thompson & the Justice Avengers, debuting in Season 3 and becoming a central character in Season 4. She is a highly disciplined fighter, the estranged daughter of Derrick Thompson, and the paternal younger half-sister of Jake Thompson. Known for her precision, stoicism, and strong sense of honor, Kagami serves as both a powerful ally and a stabilizing force within the Justice Avengers.
Appearance
Kagami is a tall, athletic teenage girl of Japanese descent with straight dark blue-black hair, into a brushed pixie cut with heavy bangs in the front and a fringe in the back, and sharp gray eyes. Her posture is almost always upright and composed, reflecting her strict upbringing.
Her casual attire is minimalistic and refined, often consisting of dark-toned clothing with subtle traditional influences.
As Ryuko, Kagami wears a sleek, dragon-inspired armored suit that blends traditional aesthetics with modern tactical design. The suit is primarily deep red and black, with glowing teal/blue energy accents running along the arms and torso. A stylized dragon emblem is embedded on her chest. Her mask is sharp and angular, enhancing her intimidating presence. Subtle scale-like textures reinforce the dragon motif. When activating her elemental powers, her suit emits energy patterns resembling flowing currents or flames.
As a combatant, Kagami wears a sleek, tactical suit designed for agility and precision combat. The suit emphasizes mobility and defense, incorporating lightweight armor plating and a refined, blade-oriented aesthetic.
Personality
Kagami is disciplined, reserved, and intensely focused. Raised under strict expectations, she values strength, control, and self-reliance above all else. She rarely expresses her emotions openly, preferring action over words.
Despite her cold exterior, Kagami possesses a strong moral code and a deep sense of loyalty. She believes in earning respect rather than demanding it and has little tolerance for recklessness or inefficiency.
As Ryuko, Kagami becomes more assertive and battle-driven, though she never loses her composure. She is direct, efficient, and decisive, shows no hesitation in combat and maintains a strong sense of honor and responsibility. However, unlike her civilian self she allows herself to be more intense and emotionally expressive through action and her fighting style becomes more aggressive when those she cares about are in danger.
Her interactions with others are often blunt and direct, which can come across as harsh. However, beneath this exterior lies a young woman who struggles with emotional vulnerability and connection, largely due to growing up without a father figure.
Over time, Kagami begins to question her rigid worldview, learning that strength does not have to come at the cost of connection.
