First comic series of the Freedom Fighters after their debuts in Justice League issues #107 and #108, consisting of 15 issues published from 1976 to 1978. Issues 1, 3, and 4 were written by Martin Pasko, issue #3 by Gerry Conway, and issues #5-15 by Bob Rozakis while the first issue was written by Ric Estrada, the second by Pablo Marcos, issues 3-6 by Ramona Fradon, and issues #7-15 by Dick Ayers. The Freedom Fighters, all characters acquired by DC Comics from Quality Comics, led by Uncle Sam and also consisting of Black Condor, Doll Man, the Human Bomb, Phantom Lady, the Ray, and later Firebrand, fought enemies including Silver Ghost of Earth-X and his minion King Samson, Skragg, the demon Homilus, an elf from the Santaland theme park, Catman, the Renegades, the alien Warmakers and were allied with District Attorney David Pearson, Wonder Woman, the Crusaders (consisting of pastiches of Marvel's Invaders), the reporter Martha Roberts (the counterpart of Doll Man's significant other), the original Batwoman, and the second Batgirl.
