Mr. Duncan is a character from the short-lived British children's television series "Bertha". He is the foreman of the Spottiswood & Company factory. Mr. Duncan is very strict, over-demanding and in some cases over-bearing, making sure the orders Bertha makes are being let out on time. If a problem were to occur or if something goes wrong, the workers will turn to him for a solution. He does not seem to get along well with Bertha due to her constant mistakes, her speed and age which is why he suggests Mr. Willmake in The Best Machine Competition to use the other machine as it is ‘more modern and up to date’. The most possibly worst thing he has done in the factory was in More Speed, Less Work as he spied on the staff (he tells them he is not after being questioned by Nel and Flo), shuts down Bertha which upsets everyone and made Tom work up in the offices. This led to a protest in the factory. Despite this, he is nowhere near heartless or cruel as he does genuinely care for the workers and even Bertha and Tom. In The Burglars, he thanked Bertha at the end for retrieving the stolen wages from the thieves. And in Bertha’s Birthday Party, he along with the other workers wished Bertha a happy birthday.
