Returning to Gotham City after years of training around the world, he transforms himself into Batman, a mysterious vigilante who strikes fear into the criminals controlling the city's streets. But as Batman's presence begins to change Gotham, the city changes in return. Powerful crime families, corrupt officials, and increasingly dangerous criminals emerge, forcing Bruce to confront threats unlike anything he prepared for. As Gotham descends deeper into chaos, Batman forms uneasy alliances with allies such as Commissioner James Gordon while facing a growing gallery of enemies who challenge him physically, intellectually, and morally. Each victory comes at a cost, testing Bruce's relationships, his identity, and his belief that Gotham can truly be saved. As criminals become monsters and heroes begin to rise, Batman must decide how far he is willing to go to protect his city without becoming the very thing he fights against.
