Crossroads: The Robert Johnson Story
The Mississippi Delta, 1930. Robert Johnson is a young, ambitious musician with a mediocre guitar style, struggling to be heard among the giants of the blues—men like Son House and Charley Patton. Desperate for greatness and haunted by personal tragedy, he vanishes from the Delta for over a year. When he returns, his skill is nothing short of supernatural, as if he made a pact with the Devil himself. This is the story of the man behind the legend. Following Johnson on the road through juke joints and street corners of the Deep South, the film chronicles his brief, brilliant career and his two legendary recording sessions that produced only 29 songs—songs that would one day become the foundation of rock 'n' roll. As his fame and myth grow, Johnson finds himself haunted by the prophecy of his deal: his soul for his talent, with only eight years to live. Crossroads is a haunting musical odyssey about ambition, legacy, and the price of immortality, culminating in the mysterious poisoning that cut short his life at the age of 27.
