The mountain gorilla is one of the two subspecies of the eastern gorilla. It is listed as endangered by the IUCN as of 2018. Mountain gorillas are bigger with longer darker hair and shorter arms than the lowland gorillas. Their bodies are made in such away that they adapted to their habitat. They range in mountainous areas with freezing temperatures. As of 2019, there are an estimated 1,063 mountain gorillas in the world.
