S1E1: Bad Since Birth It was a storming and gloomy night (gloomier than usual for Gotham) when a woman crashed on the steps of the GCPD begging and screaming "Please, he'll kill it!". The police surrounded the woman to help her to her feet when they discovered that she was none other than Harley Quinn. She continued to plead and beg, repeating "He'll kill it". Harley Quinn was pregnant and if the Joker ever found out, she and her child would be dead...or worse. With the help of the Justice League and Lex Luthor, Harley Quinn gave birth to her daughter in Mount Justice outside of Happy Harbor, Maine. After orchestrating a false death, the Joker forgot about Harley and his secret daughter April was safe. Trapped inside Mount Justice for her own safety, April knew nothing about the outside world for 17 years. Isolation like that causes trauma and to cope with her trauma, April often sought comfort in the mental apparitions of her father. In a cruel twist of fate, the Joker and his daughter had never been closer.
