After being defeated by a certain red cladded plumber, Wart was trapped in dream purgatory for over the past 30+ years, but, when Kamek accidentally discovers the mysterious dimension, Wart decides to manipulate the Magikoopa into helping him with his revenge scheme, as he tells the wizard to transport the dinosaur into multiple dream dimensions, explaining the events of the previous games in the series, as all of the past fights with Baby Bowser were all set up by Wart all along, and has been plotting for this day, so he betrays Kamek and steals his wand to revive what's left of his 8 bit army, so the wizard has to rush to Yoshi to warn him about Wart's sudden return.
