In the new prologue to the movie, he meets Rand in the shop in Chinatown and he shows him a hideous deformed skull and Rand follows him out of the shop and into the open air night to the dark allyway to his grandfather's store full of Chinese antiques and Rand saw a cute little Mogwai in a cage and he asks Mr. Wing to buy it, but Mr. Wing refuses to pay for it and asks him to leave and Wing sneaks the Mogwai out and Rand pays him the money and warns him three rules: Keep him away from the light,, especially sunlight, which will kill him; do not let him wet; and above all, never feed him after midnight.
