Returning to Los Angeles, Mickey Smith and Butch (the elderly Anatolian Shepherd) are reunited with their friends. Jelani helps Mickey and Butch adjust to the expanded TARDIS crew as Mickey meets Capt. Jack Harkness, Diggs, Catherine, Seamus, Mewsette, Jaune Tom, and Robespierre, while Butch meets Capt. Jack Harkness, Mewsette, Jaune Tom and Robespierre for the first time and Jelani's "Master Diplomat" skills are used to diffuse tension and ensure cohesion within the growing, eclectic group and stop the surviving Slitheen impersonating Margaret Blaine is now the mayor of the city to stop an earthquake timerift to open up, not Los Angeles, but the entire planet Earth itself
