In 1980s Mode, Ryoba is shown to be murderous, cold, and brutal, as she doesn't hesitate to harm or kill any girl who threatens to take Jokichi away from her. She shows no remorse for any of her actions. She has zero tolerance for and is disgusted by any girl who expresses romantic interest in Jokichi. She firmly believes that violence is the only solution to her problems. This suggests that she cares only about winning Jokichi's love, as being with him was the only way for her to live, and values his life over others. Ryoba also cares about her reputation and how others perceive her. She killed Sumire Saitozaki and made the other rivals' deaths look like accidents, without any students witnessing her. When The Journalist confronted Ryoba behind the school, she desperately tried to pretend that she didn't do anything, but failed. During her murder trial, Ryoba convinced the public that the Journalist falsely accused her of Sumire's murder. She did this so that the public would perceive her as innocent and avoid punishment for her crimes. Otherwise, Jokichi would know her true nature and stay away from her, and she would lose her only reason to live. Ryoba is also manipulative, as she made other students who admired Komako Funakoshi turn on her by gossiping about her, befriended Sonoko Sakanoue to make her believe she is a good person, and even made the whole court believe that the Journalist only accused her of murder for the sake of sensational headlines. Ryoba is also shown to be extremely vindictive whenever she is crossed, as evidenced by her vow of revenge against the Journalist for sabotaging her chance to win Jokichi's love in her monologue after the trial, and her relentless pursuit of him to America, as implied by Basement Tape 10. She will not rest until she kills those who wronged her
