(Names in brackets are counterparts from main series) Yakuza Ishin! 2014 is an action-adventure/beat-'em-up game released for both the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 on February 22, 2014. The game was developed and published by SEGA as a spin-off to the Yakuza series. Like Yakuza Kenzan!, this game is also set in historical Japan, with this game being set during the Bakumatsu Period. The 2014 version was only released in Japan. On February 22, 2023, a remake of the game, Like a Dragon: Ishin!, was released worldwide, but since that version changed many character models from other games it will receive a completely different fan cast. On December 10, 1867, assassins raid the Omi Inn in Kyoto to kill "Sakamoto Ryoma". The assassin's leader reaches the room where "Sakamoto" is staying, but does not find his target. Rather, he finds a member of the city's police force waiting for him, who comments on the strange events unfolding: That the man who came to kill "Sakamoto Ryoma" is the real Sakamoto Ryoma, seeking to murder the imposter using his name.
