Kazuma Kiryu (Lewis Tan), a former Yakuza gang member has just finished serving a lengthy prison stretch and is getting re-acquainted with the outside world in Tokyo's district, Kamurocho. He meets Haruka (Lexi Rabe), a young girl, and Kazuma's childhood sweetheart searching for her mother. Their quest is complicated by a Yakuza henchman named Goro Majima (Ezra Miller) who is on their trail and culminates in a battle against a friend from Kazuma's past who has become a ruthless enemy of Japan.
