After the ending of Avengers: Secret Wars, the main MCU sacred timeline is slightly altered. In the new timeline, more mutants reveal themselves across the world. This results in a scholar known as Charles Xavier opening a school for mutants. From this school, comes a team of mutants dedicated to promoting a dream of peaceful coexistence between humans and mutants.
