Diana has lived all her life in an idealistic society of Amazons, in Themyskira. She was trained to be their best and to defend them against outside threats. But when a British soldier, Steve Trevor lands on the island, she's told of the horrors of the outside world: World War 1 is underway, people are fighting for no reason and innocent lives are lost. She sees this as the work of Ares, the God of War and enemy of the Amazons. She leaves the safety of her home with Trevor to defeat Ares and stop the war, while her mother warns her that humanity doesn't deserve her sympathy. But when in the outside world, Diana learns about the true nature of war and about the secret about her origins. She has to make the choice whether humanity deserves her protection or not.
