As John gets settled into the group it's quickly learned that John is temperamental and easy to anger. As he's continuously overlooked and degraded by other mutants in the group he becomes more hostile towards Eric and specifically Logan who seems to be Eric's favorite. Eventually this leads to John's first episode where he nearly burns down the entire campsite the group had made. Eric manages to calm John down but the next day after hearing Eric tell his second in charge, Mystique that they need to get rid of John and he's too unstable, John has a full breakdown and Logan has to put out the fire.
