Vanessa is a fictional character from Disney's 1989 animated feature film The Little Mermaid. She is actually Ursula the Sea Witch disguised as a human.
After realizing that Ariel is getting too close to fulfilling her end of a bargain she made with Ursula, the Sea Witch decides to matters into her own hands by sabotaging Ariel's relationship with Prince Eric in order to continue her evil plans of becoming the ruler of the seas by disguising herself as a beautiful woman all the while using Ariel's voice.
While on land, she successfully hypnotizes Eric into forgetting all about Ariel and marrying her instead. However, Scuttle discovers her true identity and warns Ariel, Flounder, and Sebastian where they all decide to stall and sabotage the wedding before Vanessa's misdirection is completed.
