Leonardo is a red-eared slider turtle who was mutated to become part human. He is one of the main protagonists of the 2018 TV series, Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Typically wielding twin katana, he spent most of the series using a single, magic ōdachi with the ability to create portals.
While rebellious, Leonardo is the most charismatic and cunning of the Mad Dogs, to the point he's referred to as the "Face" of the team. However, he does not become the official leader until the end of the second season ("Rise"), a deviation which was a deliberate attempt by the writers to explore Leonardo's character.
