Fan Casting Commissioner Ellen Yindel in Wes Craven's Batman Triumphant

The film’s icy, formidable antagonist, Yindel has spent years purging the GCPD of Batman’s influence, viewing the vigilante as a fascist threat to democracy. When Batman resurfaces, she declares a citywide manhunt, determined to end the myth forever. Sarandon plays Yindel not as a cartoon villain, but as a fiercely principled woman whose rigid worldview cracks as the bodies pile up. Her quiet, devastating realization that Batman is “too big” to judge is one of the film’s most powerful moments.
