John Howard Gallagher Jr. (born June 17, 1984) is an American actor and musician known for originating the role of Moritz Stiefel in Duncan Sheik and Steven Sater's rock musical Spring Awakening, which earned him a Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical. He also played Johnny in Green Day's Broadway musical, American Idiot, Lee in the 2011 Broadway production of Jerusalem, and Edmund in the 2016 Broadway revival of Long Day's Journey Into Night. He portrayed Jim Harper in Aaron Sorkin's drama series The Newsroom, starred in the HBO mini-series Olive Kitteridge, and played Emmett DeWitt in 10 Cloverfield Lane.

A camp fire ghost story on stage, “Wendigo” tells of four lifelong friends who as boys were taken by their fathers up the Windgoes Mountain for a yearly hunting trip. Now as men and back together, they once again go up the mountain continuing to honor the traditions they were taught relaxing from the daunting stresses of their day to day lives. Unlike past trips though, a new force is stalking through the woods something hunting, something hungry, and something evil, The Wendigo. A creature of Native American lore that feast upon the flesh of all those damned to come across it; is this beast a protector of nature or this monster a harbinger of death. A fun weekend of booze, bullets, and buddies turns into a bloody nightmare as the four friends fight for survival against a demonic being they believed to be the thing of myths and legends. Trapped with no help coming and tensions raising each must bound together or none of them will make it down the mountain alive, because for where the wind blows, The Wendigo goes. This casting is who would work for as film adaption of the play.
