James Allen Mangold (born December 16, 1963) is an American film director, producer and screenwriter. Noted for his versatility in tackling a range of genres, Mangold made his debut as a film director with Heavy (1995) and gained recognition for the films Cop Land (1997), Girl, Interrupted (1999), Identity (2003), Walk the Line (2005), 3:10 to Yuma (2007), and two films in the X-Men franchise with The Wolverine (2013) and Logan (2017), the latter of which earned him a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay. He then directed the sports drama film Ford v Ferrari (2019), which earned him a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Picture, and directed and co-wrote Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (2023), the fifth and final instalment in the Indiana Jones series. For the Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown (2024), Mangold was once again nominated for Academy Awards for Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay and his first nomination for Best Director. This is the 4th installment of the Warrior franchise. Ryan, a successful Light Heavyweight UFC Champion who has now fought a little more than 10 fights professionally in the UFC. He is later challenged to a fight by Jason, who is Matt's nephew and old trainee of Matt's. Jason who is part of an Underground Fighting Circuit wants to fight Ryan there, but Ryan is reluctant to participate due to the potential damage it could cause to his career and reputation. However, Ryan eventually agrees to the fight on the condition that it takes place in a regulated, sanctioned event, unaware he is to be double crossed. Meanwhile Matt investigates the circumstances surrounding his brother's death and discovers a connection to Underground Fight Club. Matt's sister, who is Jason's mother, is going through some issues of her own, adding further tension to the family dynamic. As the film opens with Ryan and Amelia's wedding, which sets the stage for the unfolding events and explores themes of family, loyalty, and the sacrifices people are willing to make to protect those they love.
