Summer is a young girl living in Columbia, Maryland, with her parents and older sister, Holly. When her Mom goes away for work, her Aunt moves in to help with the house, bringing with her her playful cat, Fettucine. This conflicts with the girls' new dog, Crescent, who scares the cat and begins acting up. Desperate to bring the animals together– and to, at the same time, bring her and her sister back on equal ground– Summer begins learning about animal training, leading to her starting her own dog-walking and treat-making business. She hopes to win a cash prize at a business fair in order to donate it to the shelter she's now volunteering at.
