Pai Mei is an iconic Shaw Brothers cinematic villain, a legendary, near-invincible white-browed kung fu master often depicted as a traitor to the Shaolin Temple. Primarily portrayed by Lo Lieh in films like Executioners from Shaolin (1977), Abbot of Shaolin (1979), and Clan of the White Lotus (1980), he is known for his signature white hair, immense internal power, and high-level, often feminine-styled, martial arts techniques.
While played by Lo Lieh in the classics, the character was famously re-imagined by Quentin Tarantino in Kill Bill: Vol. 2 (2004). The role was played by Gordon Liu (Lau Kar-fai), a prominent Shaw Brothers actor who, interestingly, played the hero/protagonist against Lo Lieh's Pai Mei in Clan of the White Lotus.
