Fan Casting Hugo Root in View Askew's Preacher

The Sheriff of Annville, a tall, bitter man who believes the church massacre was perpetrated by "Martian Niggers" sent by the government to test genetic experiments on rural white folks. He is a conspiracy theorist, a bully, and a catastrophically bad cop whose deputies die around him while he fumes about Washington cover-ups. At home he sits in silence with his hideously disfigured son, nursing a hatred so deep it has curdled into something almost peaceful. When he finally corners Jesse, face full of broken glass, he crumbles into a lost little boy asking about the wife who left him.
