Set in a dystopian and post-apocalyptic future, the United Kingdom is a police state run by the oppressive and fascist Norsefire government. Soon, a mysterious, masked vigilante simply known as the letter "V" uses terrorist tactics to fight back against the oppressors of the world he now lives in.
After saving the life of a young woman named Evey Hammond from the secret police, he discovers an ally in his fight against England's iron rulers, all the while a New Scotland Yard detective Eric Finch, who's trying to catch V, becomes an unlikely player in the end to England's oppression.
