The film takes place in the spring of 2022 on the outskirts of a modern metropolis. A group of teenagers, led by the brilliant but alienated Leo, discover a forgotten network of unfinished subway tunnels beneath their neighborhood. Tired of the pressures of success, toxic social media, and adult misunderstanding, they decide to create a "Free Zone" there—a place where the rules of the outside world don't apply. In the underground, they build a fascinating micronation with its own set of values, led by Sophie, who uses her knowledge of psychology to help her peers cope with their fears. Their "underground life" is a surreal blend of childish fun and adult seriousness – they conduct barter, have a cinema, and even conduct "diplomacy" with the estate's caretaker, Mr. Henderson. Conflict escalates when the ruthless Headmistress Sterling begins to suspect why the city's brightest students are becoming increasingly indifferent to academic achievement. The situation becomes critical when a development company announces plans to demolish an old tunnel to build a parking lot. "Underground Minors" is a bittersweet story about rebellion against a system that forces children to grow up too quickly.
