After Professor Xavier's disappearance, Scott Summers assumes command of the X-Men, but half of them leave, not trusting Scott after the disaster with Phoenix. While Ororo and Kitty lead one half, Scott leads the other. The X-Men stand divided while new enemies arrive, who are easily able to completely shatter the last bit of trust the two teams had.
