Taylor Kitsch (born April 8, 1981) is a Canadian actor. He is known for portraying Tim Riggins in the NBC television series Friday Night Lights (2006–2011). He has also worked in films such as X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009), Battleship (2012), John Carter (2012), Savages (2012), Lone Survivor (2013), The Grand Seduction (2014), American Assassin (2017), Only The Brave (2017), and 21 Bridges (2019). Kitsch starred in the second season of the HBO series True Detective (2015) and the television film The Normal Heart (2014), as well as portrayed David Koresh in the Paramount Network miniseries Waco (2018) and a CIA Ground Branch operative in the Amazon Prime Video series The Terminal List (2022). Ultimate Alliance: The Rise Of Mephisto is a 2012 American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics superhero team the Avengers. Produced by Marvel Studios. Directed by Peter Jackson and written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, the film features an ensemble cast including everyone from the Avengers, X-Men, Fantastic Four, Defenders and Guardians Of The Galaxy. In the film, the Avengers, X-Men, Fantastic Four, Defenders and the Guardians of the Galaxy attempt to prevent Mephisto from collecting the six all-powerful Infinity Stones as part of his quest to kill half of all life in the universe while Rogue battles with the Dark Phoenix in her soul. Ultimate Alliance: The Rise Of Mephisto premiered in Los Angeles on December 23, 2012, and was released in the United States on December 27, as the final of the MCU. The film received praise for Depp's performance, which won the award for best actor, visual effects, action sequences, and emotional weight. The film was the fourth film and the first superhero film to gross over $2 billion worldwide, breaking numerous box office records, and becoming the highest-grossing film of 2012 and the fourth-highest-grossing film of all time both worldwide and in the United States and Canada. It received a nomination for Best Visual Effects and Best Actor for Depp at the 91st Academy Awards, among numerous other accolades.
