At the grand opening of Abstergo Destinations' extravagant new hotel resort in the now peaceful Rook Islands, a group of vacationers and Abstergo executives including CEO Alan Rikkin, secretly the Grand Master of the Templars a.k.a. Megiddo, are taken hostage by the White Masks, prompting Rainbow Six to be deployed on the South Island to handle the crisis. Jason Brody and Liza Snow, recently engaged and back to resolve the trauma of their previous time on the Islands, are trapped in the hotel playing cat and mouse with the leader of the White Masks, their past tormentor and nemesis Vaas Montenegro. Vaas now works for former Kyrati dictator and wanted war criminal Pagan Min, who is using the hostages as leverage while his private army searches the North Island for a Piece of Eden in a Rakyat shrine. Ghost Recon are inserted via HALO jump to capture Pagan after being tipped off to his location by DedSec hacktivist Clara Lille who has joined forces with William Miles, Mentor of the Assassins, following Abstergo Industries' acquisition of Blume Corporation. Miles plans to use the confusion to assassinate Rikkin, and retrieve the Piece of Eden which Pagan has combined with the Dagger of Time, creating temporal rifts across the Rook Islands. Out of the rifts emerge individuals from across history; Shay Cormac, who teams up with Juhani Otso Berg to eliminate Miles and save Rikkin; Edward Kenway, who meets his adult son Haytham and grandson Connor for the first time; and the Prince of Persia, determined to reclaim the Dagger and restore time.
