Seventeen-year-old Bella Swan moves from sunny Phoenix to the rain-soaked town of Forks, Washington, to live with her father, Charlie. Quiet, awkward, and accustomed to feeling like an outsider, Bella expects her new life to be lonely—until she meets the mysterious Cullen family at school. Among them is Edward Cullen, an impossibly beautiful and intensely private boy who seems to resent Bella from the moment they meet. Yet after a strange series of encounters, Bella becomes convinced that there is something deeply unnatural about him. Drawn into Edward's world despite his warnings to stay away, Bella discovers the truth: Edward and his family are vampires who have chosen to live among humans.
