Monkey D. Lucky, also known as "Straw Hat" Lucky or simply as Straw Hat, is the main protagonist of Treasure Island, the founder and captain of the Straw Hat Pirates and the son of the Marine hero Monkey D. Gary. Lucky dreams of discovering the late Monkey D. Luffy's legendary treasure and becoming the King of the Pirates. As a child, he gained the properties of rubber after accidentally eating the Gum-Gum Fruit, a powerful Devil Fruit once possessed by "Red Coat" Asta. Before departing, Asta entrusted Lucky with his iconic straw hat, telling him to return it once he had become a great pirate.
