Anime directed by Anno that have won the Animage Anime Grand Prix award have been Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water in 1990, Neon Genesis Evangelion in 1995 and 1996, and The End of Evangelion in 1997. In an Alternative History of the 21st Century, the World became the most influential nation equally matched by Two kingdoms: the Holy Britannian Empire and the Empire of Misurugi, who were the actual rulers of the World, an Angel whose purpose was to serve and defend the people she trusted, and the Demon, whose goal was to reshape the World and recreate his image. They were once royalty before they would betray and cast out but vowed to return to take their revenge against their own family as they would build a greater army and form their nation as part of a grand scheme; as their fate was changed, the Titans began to rise.
