A sad episode that answers the question if toys can die. Buzz Lightyear runs out of batteries for the first time, he’s much slower and faint. Rex questions if this is how toys die, Buzz is unsure what to believe, but he’s glad to be sharing it with a wonderful friend. When Buzz is finally drained of life, Rex mourns his loss. Woody and the toys join him in their shared moment of sorrow. The Death of Buzz Lightyear. But of course, that's not the case when Buzz gets new batteries and he lives again. Toys do not die, they fade. When it is forgotten, shelved, and unloved for years, the spark of life they're given drifts away completely unless it is found and loved again. ...or if that toy burns to ash, then it's gone.
