Total Drama (often shortened as TD) is a Canadian animated comedy television series which is a homage to and satire of common conventions from reality television. It premiered on the Canadian cable television specialty channel Teletoon in Canada on July 8, 2007, and on the American cable television channel Cartoon Network in the U.S. on June 5, 2008.[7] The show revolves around a group of teenagers competing in a fictional reality television show, while developing relationships with each other. Its style is similar to that of Survivor in that the contestants compete in challenges for rewards and immunity from elimination. The contestants are progressively eliminated from the game as they are voted out by their fellow-contestants until only one remains to be awarded the grand prize. Total Drama was met with critical praise upon release and has developed a cult following.
