Gareth Huw Evans (born April 6, 1980) is a Welsh film director, screenwriter, editor, and action choreographer. He is best known for the Indonesian action crime films Merantau (2009), The Raid (2011), and The Raid 2 (2014), and for bringing the Indonesian martial art of pencak silat into world cinema through these films. He is also known for co-creating, co-writing, co-directing, and executive producing the Sky Atlantic/AMC action crime drama television series Gangs of London(2020–present) alongside Matt Flannery, based on the 2006 video game of the same name. A new gang has been slowly taking over New York City. "The Foot" gang are responsible for the escalating wave of crime plaguing the city. April O Neil is young woman who has online vlog where reports on the "street level" crimes that go unnoticed by the local news. One night when she is on a night shift at the store where she works, she gets robbed by some Foot gang members. They aren't carrying guns, which even she calls them on. They try to grab her but she is not going down without a fight. But the three members over power her and for a second she see's a dark figure by the window and enter the store. Two gang members decide to check it out but they end up get beat up. In the confusion April gets loose from the third gang member and hits the panic button. But she get punched by the gang member and through her haze she sees a very blurry image of the shadowy figure beaten up the guy who punched her. Before she passes out she sees the shadowy figure stand over her and pick her up. When she wakes up, she hears voices talking in a group. But when she sees 4 humanoid Turtles wearing bandanas she thinks she is allusinating but freaks out when she realizes they're real. Eventually they talk to her and explain the situation.
