Michael Goodwill (1875-1944) was born to Cecil Goodwill and Miriam Goodwill on 4 October, 1873. He had four siblings, Harriet (1869), Oliver (1871), Frederick (1873), and Norman (1880). He married Octavia Goodwill (1874-1951) on 4 May 1901, and their two children were Charlie Carmicheal (1902) and Helene Jane (1904). Michael worked at Royal Mail PLC in Manchester before moving to work aboard ocean liners. Starting as a steerage pageboy on SS Persic in 1881, he worked his way up to Chief Postal Officer on the Titanic in 1912. He spent his time as the man in charge of the Mail Hold, and had his own office.
