Hélène de Lanaudiére-Chaput (Mar 29, 1862 - Jun 18, 1923 (aged 61)) was born in in Joliette, Québéc and claimed the fabled French Canadian heroine Madeline de Verchères as an ancestor. In August 1882 she married James ("Diamond Jim") Baxter, a diamond broker and banker. They had three children, Anthony William, (1883), Mary Hélène (1885) and Quigg Edmond (1887). In 1892, James built what might be described as Canada's first mall, putting 28 stores under one roof. In 1911 she sold the mall and took her son and her married daughter Mary with her on one of her trips to Europe. They booked passage home on one of RMS Titanic's most expensive suites, B-58 and B-60.
