Caledon Nathaniel Hockley, or just Cal (14 May 1881 - 21 December 1929) was the heir to the Pittsburgh Hockley Steel fortune owned by his father Neil. He is the fiancée of 16-year-old Rose DeWitt BukKater; in a sort of arranged marriage to help Ruth Harriet BukKater's family wealth. Caledon travels on board the RMS Titanic to have him and Rose's extravagant wedding in Philadelphia following their engagement in Paris and travels through Eurasia. While on board, there's a little mishap with Rose and a third-class gentleman, Jack. Cal, with no choice, invites him to dinner. Later that night he gives Rose a very expensive diamond necklace. Throughout the voyage watch as Cal yells at, hits, frames, and arrests Jack while trying to track down Rose.
