Kirk Langstrom is a Wayne Enterprises scientist who is experimenting with Animal DNA to assist those with disabilities. He is currently experimenting with Bat DNA to cure deafness (including his own). However, the batch he was experimenting with on himself was spiked with a chemical of Hugo Strange's that "creates monsters". This causes the serum to mutate Langstrom into Man-Bat, without his knowledge. As the film progresses he slowly becomes aware of the Man-Bat transformation as they become more and more frequent.
