Zachary Edward Snyder (born March 1, 1966) is an American filmmaker. He made his feature film debut in 2004 with Dawn of the Dead, a remake of the 1978 horror film of the same name. Since then, he has directed or produced a number of comic book and superhero films, including 300 (2006) and Watchmen (2009), as well as the Superman film that started the DC Extended Universe, Man of Steel (2013), and its follow-ups, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) and Justice League (2017), the latter of which had a director's cut released in 2021. He also directed the animated film Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole (2010), the psychological action film Sucker Punch (2011), the zombie heist film Army of the Dead (2021), and the two-part space opera films Rebel Moon (2023) and Rebel Moon—Part Two: The Scargiver (2024). In 2004, he founded the production company The Stone Quarry (formerly known as Cruel and Unusual Films) alongside his wife Deborah Snyder and producing partner Wesley Coller. A ceremony held at the King’s palace as Odin is set to announce his heir to throne, that it being his oldest son Thor. Thor is presented in front of his peers and loved ones, however the ceremony is interrupted as Frost Giants invade Asgard to take back the Casket. While the battle is ended short, Thor goes behind his father’s wishes and leads an invasion of Jotunheim with his young brother Loki and the Warriors to confront Laufey. The confrontation is ended short as Odin intervenes, Thor and his father get into a heated debate to the point where Odin strips Thor’s from his eventual title and vanishes him to Earth as punishment, along with his powers and weapon Mjölnir.
