Omby Amby is the Royal Army of Oz, a peculiar and officious military officer who serves the Wizard of Oz with unwavering loyalty and comedic pomposity. Despite his grandiose title, he commands an army of exactly one—himself—yet carries himself with the utmost seriousness and self-importance. He is fastidious about protocol, rank, and proper procedure, often getting caught up in bureaucratic minutiae while missing the larger picture. Omby Amby is simultaneously ridiculous and endearing, a character who takes himself far too seriously in a magical land where such seriousness is inherently absurd. He represents the absurdity of blind institutional loyalty and the humor found in those who mistake pomp for power. His interactions with Dorothy and her companions reveal a fundamentally harmless, even well-meaning nature beneath his officious exterior.
