He is a member of the Delta and served as the secondary antagonist of the first half of The Final Season. Abel is an extremely ruthless, manipulative, and hardened survivor, willing to do whatever it takes for him and his group to survive, including robbing other survivors, hurting, kidnapping, and even killing children.
