The king is dead. Assassins strike in the dead of night, decimating the royal family. Prince Cadeyrn survives with the help of his knight companions, but is too late to save his kin. In the carnage that remains he finds his brother’s pregnant widow. However, surviving is not enough to keep them safe. Prince Cadeyrn is blamed for the massacre of his family and–determined to save his sister and her unborn child from their enemy–is forced to flee from the scheming Duke Fiacra. In the midst of their escape, the desperate fugitives encounter Éabha, a noble lady who values her freedom more than her title. But the princess and child’s survival must remain hidden at all costs. Éabha is given a choice; join them in exile or die. Branded traitors, and hunted across the kingdom, allies are in short supply. Together, the six companions begin their quest to prove their innocence and reclaim the throne. But Duke Fiacra seeks far more than just the crown. He has released a power long held dormant within the land. A power that will make him unstoppable.
