Charlie Thomas Cox (born 15 December 1982) is an English actor. He is known for portraying Matt Murdock / Daredevil in seven projects of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, leading the television series Daredevil (2015–2018) and Daredevil: Born Again (2025–present). Cox portrayed Owen Sleater in the second and third seasons of HBO's Boardwalk Empire (2011–2012) and Jonathan Hellyer Jones in the 2014 film The Theory of Everything. He starred in the RTÉ drama series Kin (2021–2023) and the Netflix spy miniseries Treason (2022). Cox's breakout role was as Tristan Thorn in the 2007 fantasy film Stardust, one of several roles he had in predominantly British productions during the first decade of his career. He made his West End debut the following year in a revival of the Harold Pinter plays The Lover and The Collection. Following his successes on-screen in the 2010s, he acted in a 2019 stage production of Harold Pinter's Betrayal, first in the West End and then on Broadway. He would later make his video game debut in 2025 as Gustave in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. After the death of Peter Parker, news gets around fast: Spider-Man has died spreads throughout headlines. The Defenders aren't sure what to do because with the death of Spider-Man villains have been appearing more left and right. Meanwhile Wilson Fisk has cut ties with Baron Zemo leading to S.H.I.E.L.D gaining enough evidence to do a full sweep of Hydra's U.S bases as well as shut down Intelligencia. Now with no other factors weighing him down, Fisk goes into over drive as he sets out to ruin Matt Murdock's life. Matt and Frank Castle have to work together as they fight off Fisk's forces like Bullseye, Kraven the Hunter, and Taskmaster. Eventually they beat all 3 and Matt faces Fisk head on leading to a fight in Fisk Tower where Frank manages to broadcast the fight to the public and when he gets the upper hand on Matt, Fisk realizes everyone knows who he is now, a criminal, a thug, the Kingpin. The cops arrive and arrest Fisk while Matt has to go on the run, now a fugitive. In the post credits scene we see the symbiote as it now without a host, makes it's way into the home of Colonel Flash Thompson.
