Eric O’Grady, a low-level, ethically flexible S.H.I.E.L.D. agent. While stationed on the Helicarrier, O'Grady is tasked with guarding a high-security lab containing one of Dr. Hank Pym’s prototype Giant-Man suits. O’Grady’s ends up killing his best friend and fellow agent by accident while goofing around and ends up stealing the Giant Man suit and Pym Particles. On the run from S.H.I.E.L.D., O'Grady changed the costume to a black and red costume—adopting the mantle of The Black Ant. O’Grady uses his powers for selfish ends: petty theft, and bank robberies. Hank Pym and Janet van Dyne (The Wasp) are forced to hunt him down to retrieve the stolen Pym Particles. The film's tension is driven by Hank Pym's growing mental instability, exacerbated by the stress of O'Grady's theft and the public tarnishing of his legacy. While they eventually corner O’Grady, the victory is hollow as Hank’s temper reaches a breaking point. Following the battle, a heated argument erupts between Hank and Janet over his reckless methods. In a moment of pure rage, Hank strikes Janet, knocking her to the ground. Janet, horrified and acting in self-defense, shrinks down and begins blasting Hank with her stingers. Refusing to back down, Hank uses his cybernetic helmet to summon a massive swarm of ants. In a disturbing display of power, he commands the insects to overwhelm the wasp-sized Janet. The screen fades to black as Janet is heard screaming, leaving her in critical condition and Hank stands alone, horrified by his own actions.
