Rosalie Anderson MacDowell (born April 21, 1958) is an American actress and former fashion model. MacDowell's known for her starring film roles in romantic comedies and dramas. Her early films include Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes (1984) and the Brat Pack vehicle film St. Elmo's Fire (1985). Her breakout role was in Sex, Lies, and Videotape (1989) which earned her the Independent Spirit Award for Best Female Lead and a nomination for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress – Motion Picture Drama. She then starred in a series of films including Green Card (1990), Groundhog Day (1993), Short Cuts (1993), Four Weddings and a Funeral (1994), Michael (1996), Multiplicity (1996), and The Muse (1999). She is also known for her supporting film roles in Beauty Shop (2005), Footloose (2011), Magic Mike XXL (2015), Love After Love (2017), and Ready or Not (2019). MacDowell co-starred opposite her daughter Margaret Qualley in the Netflix miniseries Maid (2021), for which she was nominated for a Golden Globe Award. MacDowell has modeled for Calvin Klein and has been a spokeswoman for L'Oréal since 1986.

In Willowbrook stands the Penelope, an old movie theater. A young boy Tommy prefers spending his time in the theater rather than at school. It makes his mom Sarah mad. His grandfather, Henry, owns the theater and shares his passion for movies. Years pass, and the theater's financial woes grow. Henry can no longer afford to keep it running. It devastates Tommy. Even Sarah worries, while his younger sis, Emily, helps with the running, shares a love for movies. Henry prepares to close and reveals secret to Tommy: one room is magical and can bring actors to life. The Theatre was built by Tommy's great-grandfather, who was pioneer in the early days of cinema. Tommy write a new movie, epic script, hope it will draw crowds and save the theater. casts favorite iconic actors such as John Wayne, Stewart, Spencer, Hill or Bogart. Rebecca, a childhood friend of Tommy has returned to town, rekindles their friendship and becomes his romantic partner. Sam, a local carpenter and handyman, volunteers to build scenes. Maggie, an elderly film historian and friend of Henry helps too. This not only saves it from closure but reignites the town's love for cinema. Tommy decides to continue running the Theater of Dreams.
