In Willowbrook stands the Penelope, an old movie theater. A young boy Tommy prefers spending his time in the theater rather than at school. It makes his mom Sarah mad. His grandfather, Henry, owns the theater and shares his passion for movies. Years pass, and the theater's financial woes grow. Henry can no longer afford to keep it running. It devastates Tommy. Even Sarah worries, while his younger sis, Emily, helps with the running, shares a love for movies. Henry prepares to close and reveals secret to Tommy: one room is magical and can bring actors to life. The Theatre was built by Tommy's great-grandfather, who was pioneer in the early days of cinema.
